Connect Slack once and SLX works across the channels, private channels, and direct messages you authorize. Ask it to summarize what happened in #product this week, pull the thread where a decision was made, or find who owns a task — SLX reads the relevant history and answers in chat.
When you want something written back to Slack — a summary, a status update, a reply — SLX posts it for you. It connects as a standard Slack app: you authorize it with OAuth, it acts with a bot token, and it only touches the channels you invite it into.
How to connect it
Slack connects from inside SLX — there’s no separate app to install. It takes about a minute.
- Sign in to SLX. Create a free account first if you’re new — start here.
- Open Connections and choose Slack. SLX opens Slack’s consent screen listing the exact access shown below; review it and approve for your workspace.
- Invite the bot to a channel. In Slack, type
/invite @SLXin any channel you want it to read or post in. - Ask in plain English. Back in SLX, say “summarize #launch this week” or “post the notes to #general” — SLX turns it into the right Slack call and runs it.
What triggers a Slack message, and what doesn’t
Posts only when you ask
SLX writes to Slack only in response to a request you make in the SLX chat (chat:write). No scheduled posts, and it never messages a channel on its own.
Reads only where it’s invited
To answer questions it reads history from the channels and DMs you authorize (channels:history and the rest). It can’t see a channel the bot hasn’t been invited to.

The exact bot scopes SLX requests when you connect Slack, shown verbatim so you can check them against Slack’s consent screen. Each maps to a feature above.
